From Howards Grove, Wis., Sandy Burkhardt lettered four times in volleyball (1976-79), four times in basketball (1977-80) and once in track and field (1978). In basketball, she finished her career with 1,661 points, currently second on the Carthage career scoring list. Burkhardt had four straight seasons with 100 or more steals, set a season steals record with 120 in 1980 and is ranked first on the career steals list with 442. She holds two Lady Reds game records, one for 13 assists against St. Norbert College in 1980 and the other for 12 steals in a game against Carroll College in 1978. Burkhardt was named first-team All-WWIAC four times and named a GTE Academic All-American in 1980. She went on to become an energy analyst for the Arizona Public Service Company in Phoenix, Ariz.
