From Arlington Heights, Ill., John Eakins lettered four times in football (1953-56) as a quarterback, defensive back and punter. Eakins was named Peoria Journal-Star second-team all-state in 1955 and was ranked second nationally in NAIA punting. He also lettered twice in basketball (1954-55) and twice in baseball (1954 and 1956).
