From Quincy, Ill., Derrick “Boots” Bush was a four-year letterwinner in both football (1929-32) and basketball (1930-33). In basketball he was part of the Red Men’s 1932 Little 19 Conference championship team and earned all-conference honors. He went on to coach at Quincy High School and was also a sportscaster on WGEM-AM Radio in Quincy, Ill. Bush served on the Quincy Park Board from 1945 to 1981, and “Boots” Bush Park in Quincy was named in his honor.
