CARTHAGE ATHLETIC HALL OF FAME
From Oregon, Ill., Jack Lutz, Carthage’s second-leading scoring leader (1,867 points) and second on the career rebounding list (907), was named NAIA honorable mention All-America in both 1967 and 1968. Lutz was a three-time All-CCIW honoree, first team in 1967 and 1968 and second team in 1966. He was named an honorable mention NAIA All-American in 1968. Lutz’ 29 rebounds against Millikin on Dec. 11, 1966, remains a Carthage game record, and his 25.1 per-game scoring average in 1967 is second only to Johnie Butler’s 26.5 mark in 1971. Lutz was selected by the Milwaukee Bucks in the 12th round of the 1969 NBA Draft but was cut at the end of training camp. Milwaukee’s first-round selection that year was Kareem Abdul-Jabbar.
