From Delavan, Wis., Gene Schrader lettered four times in football (1960-63) and three times in track and field (1961-63). In football, he was named NAIA All-American in both 1962 and 1963, first-team All-CCIW in 1963 and Peoria Journal-Star all-state in 1963.
