CARTHAGE ATHLETIC HALL OF FAME
From Lima, Ohio, Alan Kingsbery lettered three times in cross country (1972-74), but his real claim to fame came in bicycle racing, Carthage’s only Olympian, Kingsberry finished 19th in the 100-kilometer time trials at the 1976 Summer Olympics in Montreal. A near-fatal accident involving a cement truck during the 1978 national time trials permanently damaged his right foot. He returned to competitive racing in 1989 and finished first in the Physically Impaired World Championships.
