KENOSHA — Former Carthage baseball standout
Bryce Schaum has signed with the Milwaukee Brewers organization after beginning the 2026 season with the Chicago Dogs of the American Association.
The Chicago Dogs announced May 23 that Schaum's contract had been transferred to the Brewers organization.
Schaum made 13 appearances for the Dogs this season, including nine starts, compiling 36 strikeouts across 41.1 innings pitched.
During his standout career with the Firebirds, Schaum established himself as one of the top pitchers in program history. As a senior, he earned D3baseball.com All-Region Eight Second Team honors following a dominant campaign on the mound. A two-time College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin Pitcher of the Week and First Team All-CCIW selection, Schaum posted a 7-4 record with a 3.09 ERA over 12 appearances.
He led Carthage with 102 strikeouts during his senior season, recording three double-digit strikeout performances, including a career-high 16 strikeouts against Crown (Minn.) on March 13.
Over his Firebird career, Schaum compiled a 17-13 record with a 3.72 ERA and 339 strikeouts across 271 innings pitched in 45 appearances while being the program leader for career strikeouts and second most strikeouts in a single season in 2024 (113).
