Four Carthage Baseball Student-Athletes Earn ABCA/Rawlings All-Region Honors

KENOSHA — Four Carthage College baseball student-athletes were recognized on the 2025 ABCA/Rawlings NCAA Division III All-Region 8 teams, as announced by the American Baseball Coaches Association. The annual honors are voted on by ABCA members and coordinated by the ABCA NCAA Division III All-America and Coach of the Year Committee.

Senior pitcher Bryce Schaum earned a spot on the All-Region 8 First Team following a standout season on the mound. A two-time College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin (CCIW) Pitcher of the Week and First Team All-CCIW honoree, Schaum posted a 7-4 record with a 3.09 ERA across 12 appearances. He led the Firebirds with 102 strikeouts, recording three games with 10 or more strikeouts, including a season-high 16 against Crown (Minn.) on March 13.

Joining Schaum among the region's top pitchers is Ryan Scanlon, who landed on the All-Region 8 Second Team. The 2025 CCIW Pitcher of the Year finished the season 7-1 with a 3.18 ERA. Scanlon made 13 appearances and 10 starts, striking out 73 over 65 innings. The senior's best outing came on May 8 against Millikin, when he tallied 11 strikeouts in a complete-game effort.

Additional accolades went to Collin Callahan and Jake Hartman Jr., who both earned Third Team All-Region 8 recognition.

Callahan, named the CCIW Hitter of the Year, turned in a strong senior campaign with a .361 batting average. Callahan collected 66 hits, including 13 doubles, three triples, and eight home runs, while driving in 45 runs. A First Team All-CCIW pick, Callahan notched four hits against Millikin on April 18 and delivered a two-homer, four-RBI performance versus Wheaton (Ill.) on March 28.

Out of the bullpen, Hartman Jr. anchored the Firebirds' relief corps, earning Second Team All-CCIW honors. Over 20 appearances, the senior allowed just four earned runs and 15 hits in 22 2/3 innings, finishing with a 1.59 ERA and 40 strikeouts. His top performance came on February 28, when he fanned seven batters over three innings.
