NAPERVILLE — Carthage College senior pitcher
Bryce Schaum has been named the College Conference of Illinois & Wisconsin (CCIW) Baseball Student-Athlete of the Week for games played between Monday, March 24, and Sunday, March 30.
Schaum earned his first CCIW start of the season in dominant fashion on Friday, striking out 15 batters to lead the Firebirds to a commanding 15-2 victory over Wheaton which was the third-most strikeouts in a single-game. The right-hander allowed just three hits and two earned runs while walking only one of the 24 batters he faced.
This is Schaum's second CCIW Student-Athlete of the Week honor in 2025. He has now recorded 10 or more strikeouts in three games this season.
Carthage will play Ripon on Thursday, April 2 at 3 p.m.
