KENOSHA, Wis. — Three student-athletes from the Carthage College men's track and field team have qualified for the Division III NCAA Indoor National Championship, which begins on Friday, March 10.

Joseph White qualified for the weight throw and shot put. The six-time College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin (CCIW) Field Athlete of the Week selection set a school and national record, throwing 21.92m in the weight throw during the Tadd Metzger Invite. White has been named the U.S. Track and Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) Men's National Player of the Week twice during the indoor season. "Joseph had a phenomenal series of throws during our last meet," said head coach
Josh Henry. "He looks as good as ever heading into this week's NCAA Championships."

Alex Jarvis will compete in the triple jump at the National meet as he was an all-conference selection taking first place during the CCIW Indoor Championships. Jarvis received CCIW Field Athlete of the Week honors after taking second at the Aurora Grand Prix. Jarvis also broke the school record for the triple jump at the Firebird Finale, jumping 14.51m. "He has worked super hard during his time at Carthage," commented head Henry. "To break the school record on his final jump at a home meet is a great moment."
Chase Upmann rounds out the qualifiers for the Firebirds as Upmann, from Rockford, Ill., will compete in the 800m race. Upmann was named CCIW Track Athlete of the Week alongside Jarvis and set a school record time of 1:53.37 which put him 21st nationally. "Chase ran a great race and solidified his hold over the indoor 800m school record," mentioned Henry. "Chase has had a great season and much to be proud of."

Chase Upmann were named to this year's U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) All-Region list announced by the USTFCCCA. White was an all-region selection in two events, weight throw and shot put, while Upmann was an all-region award winner in the 800m.
In addition, White was announced as this year's North Region USTFCCCA Field Athlete of the Year on March 8. White threw seven of the ten best all-time marks this season and is the national leader in the shot put at 18.31m.
