Record Breaking Performances Lead Firebirds at Midwest Elite Invitational

WHITEWATER - The Carthage men's track & field team competed in the Midwest Elite Invitational on Friday and Saturday and the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater. It was a strong weekend for the Firebirds which was highlighted by three student-athletes improving on their school records.



SPRINTS

Dylan Parker won the 400m and improved his school record with a time of 48.77 seconds.

Landon Voye placed third in the 200m with a finishing time of 22.43 seconds.

Voye also placed fourth in the 60m dash with a time of 6.91 seconds. Voye's preliminary round time of 6.90seconds now stands as the Carthage school record, passing Mac Anderson (2024) at 6.91 seconds.

DISTANCE

Harlan Matson placed fourth in the mile with a personal best time of 4:20.23

Jacob Curulewski shaved 14 seconds off of the 5,000m record with a time of 14:30.47

JUMPS

Jack Tilton placed second in the high jump with a personal best mark of 1.97m. Euphrates Willis placed fourth, also clearing a personal best mark of 1.97m.

Camron Foster placed sixth in the triple jump with a jump of 13.47m.

THROWS

Tyler Rose placed third in the shout put with a mark of 15.59m.

Rose then placed third in the weight throw with a mark of 18.46m.


 
  • Parker ranks 18th in the NCAA Division III in the 400m at 48.01#. Parker ranks second in the CCIW in the event and continues to hold the Carthage school record.
  • Curulewski's time of 14:21.25# ranks 24th at the Division III level. Curulewski now ranks second in the CCIW and solidifies his position as the Cartage school record holder in the event.
  • Matson now ranks second in the mile in the CCIW at 4:16.96#. Matson now ranks ninth on the Carthage all-time list, passing Eric Pennington (2000) at 4:21.20.
  • Willis and Tilto are tied for third in the CCIW at 1.97m in the high jump. The duo is now tied for ninth in Carthage history with Justin Sebens (2011) and Bob Schenk (1970).
  • Voye ranks fourth in the CCIW in the 60m at 6.90 seconds while sitting atop the Carthage all-time performance list.
  • Micah O'Neal moved up to fifth in the CCIW in the pole vault with a mark of 4.30m.
  • Kedrick Johnson III now ranks eighth on the Carthage all-time list in the 60m hurdles, passing Adam Kedzior (8.97, 2024) with a time of 8.92 seconds.

Carthage men's track & field returns to action on Feb. 21 as the team heads down the road to compete in the Parkside Classic at the Petretti Fieldhouse in Somers, Wis.
