BLOOMINGTON, Ill.  — During the two-day the College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin (CCIW) Indoor Championships the Carthage College men's track and field team took third place finishing with 89 team points hosted by Illinois Wesleyan. Joseph White was named this year's CCIW Indoor Field Athlete of the Meet.

"I am incredibly proud of what this team did over the last two days.  We knew going into the meet the conference team landscape was deeper than ever, and to finish in the top three was going to be a battle.  These guys definitely fought.  We had some incredibly gutsy performances and all of our 89 points were very well earned.  Some of the most impressive performances came from guys who were fighting through injuries for a good portion of the season.  So I would like to take a moment to thank our incredible athletic training staff at Carthage.  Without them, we definitely would not have finished in the top three this weekend. 

I don't want to spend a lot of time focused on individual performances as there were far too many exceptional efforts to fairly acknowledge them all.  However, I have to recognize another incredible accomplishment for Joseph White who defended his indoor field athlete of the meet title with two CCIW meet records.  He certainly has bigger goals ahead, but we shouldn't overlook his accomplishments along the way.  Additionally, it was great to see Alex Jarvis defend his triple jump title.  It took his sixth and final jump to reclaim it from his own teammate, but it is great to see him closing off his senior indoor season with another CCIW conference title.

Overall it was a great weekend to be a Firebird. I'm incredibly proud of this group and excited to get another shot at a CCIW Conference Championship in ten weeks with the upcoming outdoor season! Go Firebirds!"
