KENOSHA/WAVERLY - The Carthage men's track & field team competed in a pair of meets on last chance weekend. The team sent a trio of athletes to the Wartburg NCAA Final Qualifier, while the rest of the squad hosted the Firebird Finale and Senior Day at the Tarble Athletic and Recreation Center Fieldhouse.



SPRINTS

Landon Voye won the 55m dash in a personal best time of 6.37 seconds. Jy'Lique Barnes placed fourth in a personal best time of 6.62, while Christopher Seals finished fifth in 6.66 seconds, and Austin Alexander placed seventh in 6.76.

Dylan Parker placed second in the 400m at Wartburg, running a time of 48.76 seconds.

The Firebirds ran two 4x400m relay teams, with Team A (LJ Higgs, Eli Fredrickson, Diego Moreno, Joe Johnston) finishing in second place in 3:44.81, while Team B (Evan Krahn, Luke Davey, AJ Ripper, Mauricio Vega) placed fourth at 3:45.95.

Krahn placed third in the 55m hurdles with a time of 8.84 seconds.

Layne Rund placed fourth in the 200m with a season best time of 23.23 seconds. Joey Hagen placed seventh at a personal best 23.59 seconds.

Kade Jaros placed sixth in the 400m at the Firebird Finale in a time of 54.23 seconds.

DISTANCE

Higgs led a five-athlete sweep for the Firebirds in the mile, finishing in first place at 4:29.23. Davey placed second with a personal best time of 4:30.15. Michael Herres placed third at 4:35.03, while Johnston placed fourth at 4:35.69. Quinn Kelly rounded out the tip five at a personal best 4:35.96. Joey Kehoe placed eighth with a personal best time of 4:45.16.

Andrew Schaer won the 3,000m with a personal best time of 8:50.84. Connor Wood placed fourth in a season best 9:06.27, while Chad Helmke placed fifth with a personal best time of 9:10.06. Braydon Barth placed seventh at 9:17.62.

Ripper placed third in the 800m with a personal best time of 2:08.85, while Vega placed fourth in a personal best time of 2:08.86. Fredrickson placed sixth at 2:11.86, while Robert Carroll placed seventh at a personal best time of 2:12.36.

Jacob Curulewski placed fifth at Wartburg in the 5,000m, finishing in a time of 14:46.16.

JUMPS

Hayden Rollins placed second in the pole vault with a mark of 4.66m. Micah O'Neal placed sixth at 4.06m, while Nick DeLuca placed seventh also at 4.06m.

Camron Foster placed second in the triple jump with a new personal best mark of 14.46m. Kedrick Johnson III placed fourth at 14.14m. Quentin Arceo placed eighth at 13.14m.

Jack Tilton placed fifth in the high jump with a mark of 1.98m. Alexander placed seventh with a personal best mark of 1.93m.

THROWS

Tyler Rose placed second in the weight throw with a mark of 18.53m.

Rose also placed third in the shot put with a mark of 15.99m.



The Firebirds will wait to see which student-athletes will be selected to compete in the 2026 NCAA Division III Indoor Track & Field Championships. The announcement is expected to be released on Sunday, March 8. For more information, visit athletics.carthage.edu.
