Parker and Rose Earn All-American Honors at NCAA Championships

BIRMINGHAM - Dylan Parker and Tyler Rose of the Carthage men's track & field program competed in the final day of the 2026 NCAA Division III Indoor Track & Field Championships on Friday at the Birmingham CrossPlex. It was another strong outing for the Firebirds, as both Parker and Rose both earned All-American honors in their events.

How it Happened

SHOT PUT

Rose opened the day in Flight 1 with a throw of 16.04 meters, starting off in second place. Rose's second throw marked at 15.35m and the senior slid to seventh place. Rose's third throw was a scratch and the Firebird thrower held seventh place at the end of Flight 1. By the end of Flight 2, Rose ended the day in 15th place and earned Second Team All-American honors.

400 METER DASH

In the 400m finals, Parker competed in the first of two heats. Starting in Lane 6, Parker opened the first 200m in 22.61 seconds before finishing the race in 48.54 seconds. Parker finished in eighth place overall and earned First Team All-American honors.

Coach's Remarks

"I am proud of how Tyler bounced backed today and competed," said Assistant Coach Greg Raimondi. "It is always hard to come back on day two after his better event didn't go as planned on day 1. His mark was still on the low end of what I thought he was capable of this weekend but it would have taken matching his PR to become an All-American today.  Tyler has grown a lot as a competitor this year and coming into these meets with the ability to compete at a high level is different from being on the lower end of the qualification list.  Hopefully he is able to learn from this experience and be ready to compete more like himself when given the next opportunity next time."

"Every year getting to nationals is more and more difficult," added Assistant Coach Cale Brown. "It's a huge accomplishment to qualify for the meet, so for Dylan to finish as an all-American in his first national appearance shows the kind of competitor he is. It's taken a few years of hard work for him to get to this point, but Dylan's consistency has really paid off. Even though Dylan was the only sprinter on the track for us this weekend, he's been pushed by all his teammates and coaches, and he's a representation of all of Carthage track and field. It's a full team effort to get anyone to the national level, and we're all excited to be part of this era of Carthage track and field."
