Box Score The Carthage College baseball team (16-18, 8-10 College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin) defeated non-conference opponent Concordia University (Wis., 12-24), 7-1, on Tuesday, April 30 at Augie Schmidt Field in Kenosha, Wis.

Carthage got on the board first with a solo home run by Nick Schmidlkofer.  The Red Men plated three runs in the second on an RBI-triple by Matt Cmiel, a sacrifice fly by Schmidlkofer and a solo home run by Kyle Pusateri.  The Falcons got a run back in the fourth, but an RBI-single by Marc Mantucca in the fifth made it 5-1 and a two-run home run by Tanner Wensman in the sixth upped the lead to 7-1.

Pitcher Sam Wilhelms (Jr., Fond du Lac, Wis., 4-3) did a fine job over the first seven innings, limiting the Falcons to one run on two hits and no walks.  Daniel Mueller singled and Joel Sharon doubled, both in the fourth, off Wilhelms.  Mitch Lochen (Sr., Glenview, Ill./Glenbrook South) worked the final two frames, with the loss going to Tyler Gross (1-3).  Schmidlkofer, Pusateri, Matt Cmiel and Tanner Wensman each had two hits for the Red Men, with Schmidlkofer and Wensman driving in two runs each.

On Wednesday, May 1, the Red Men travel to Mequon, Wis., to play a second game with Concordia (Wis.), beginning at 6 p.m. at Kapco Field.  Wednesday's game is a makeup from a rained-out contest on April 9.
