Trey Martin (1-1) took the tough loss. Martin surrendered just two runs, one earned, on seven hits and no walks, while striking out nine. The two teams conclude the series on Saturday, May 5 with a 1 p.m. doubleheader at the Carthage Baseball Field in Kenosha, Wis.
Saturday's contest marks the final game for the Carthage Baseball Field in its current configuration. This summer, construction will begin on Augie Schmidt Field. Only the current stands and the light towers will be retained. The new facility will feature an artificial-surface infield, new grass in the outfield, a new fence, netting to replace the current backstop, a press box, a plaza area and patio-type seating along the baselines and a concession stand/rest rooms located just across the Pike River. Augie Schmidt Field will be ready for the start of the 2013 season.
