Red Men Travel to Concordia (Wis.) on Wednesday Night

Box Score The Carthage College baseball team (18-16, 7-11 College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin) outlasted non-conference opponent St. Norbert College (19-11), 10-9, on Tuesday, May 1 at the Carthage Baseball Field in Kenosha, Wis.
 
Carthage broke a 1-1 tie with a two-run third inning.  St. Norbert scored four times in the fourth to take a 5-3 lead.  The Red Men got a run in the bottom half to cut the lead to 5-4, but the Green Knights scored two in the fifth to go up by three, 7-4.  St. Norbert scored again in the sixth to take a four-run lead, 8-4.  Carthage came up with six runs in the sixth to re-gain the lead, 10-8.  Kyle Pusateri singled in a run.  Joey Aiello walked with the bases loaded to force in the second run, and pinch-hitter Matt Richer launched a grand slam to rightfield to cap the inning.  The Green Knights got a run back in the seventh, and the score was 10-9.
 
Sixteen Carthage hits helped the Red Men overcome four errors.  Brian Huntsinger (So., Glendale, Wis./Milwaukee-Nicolet) went three-for-five.  Tyler Eickmeyer (Sr., Kenosha, Wis./Somers-Shoreland Lutheran), Kyle Pusateri (Sr., Schaumburg, Ill.) and Mike Gentile (So., Grayslake, Ill./Central) had two hits each.  Pitcher Andrew Arenson (So., Naperville, Ill/North) started the game and surrendered seven runs, five earned, on six hits and five walks, while striking out six batters.  Reliever Mitch Lochen (Jr., Glenview, Ill./Glenbrook South, 3-0) picked up the win by limiting St. Norbert to two runs, one earned, on four hits over the final four innings.  Chris Hillesheim (1-1), the third-of-four Green Knights hurlers, took the loss.
 
Carthage travels to Mequon, Wis., on Wednesday, May 2 for a 6 p.m. game against Concordia University (Wis., 11-22) at the new Falcon Field, which is being dedicated prior to the game.
