Box Score The Carthage College baseball team (16-14, 6-9 College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin) blanked non-conference opponent and No. 37 Concordia University (Chicago, 25-9), 2-0, on Thursday, April 26 at the Carthage Baseball Field in Kenosha, Wis.

Thursday's game started out as a classic pitcher's duel between the Red Men's Jeremy Salzman and the Cougars' Kurt Kempema.  The two hurlers were locked in a scoreless duel for six innings, with Salzman allowing just five hits and Kempema only four.  Carthage broke through with two runs the seventh.  Tanner Wensman reached on a throwing error by Concordia shortstop Anthony Even and took an extra base on the miscue.  Wensman moved up on a bunt and scored on a single by Mike Wasche.  A Drew Bailey single moved Wasche to third, and pinch-runner Chris D'Angelo scored on a sacrifice fly by Tyler Eickmeyer.

Jeremy Salzman (So., Arlington Heights, Ill./Buffalo Grove, 2-1) went the first seven innings and blanked the Cougars on five hits and two walks.  Mitch Lochen (Jr., Glenview, Ill./Glenbrook South) worked the final two innings to earn his first save of the year.   Concordia put two runners on base in the ninth, but Lochen induced a popup by Anthony Even to end the game.  Kurt Kempema (0-1) took the loss.  On Saturday-Sunday, April 28-29,

Carthage travels to Decatur, Ill., for a three-game series with CCIW-opponent Millikin University (8-24, 3-12 CCIW) at Sunnyside Park.  The two teams play a Saturday, April 28 doubleheader at 1 p.m., followed by a Noon single game on Sunday, April 29.
