NAPERVILLE — Following a dominant outing on the mound,
Wyatt Modory of the Carthage College baseball team has been named College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin Pitcher of the Week.
Modory delivered a strong performance in the Firebirds' 11-1 victory over Augustana on Saturday, striking out seven while allowing just one run across 122 pitches. He scattered five hits in the outing and earned his fifth win of the season.
The sophmore set the tone early and controlled the game throughout, helping Carthage secure a key conference win as part of a doubleheader sweep. With the victories, the Firebirds clinched a berth in the CCIW Tournament.
Carthage enters the conference tournament as the No. 4 seed and will face No. 5 seed Augustana in the opening round. First pitch is scheduled for 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday, May 6 in Decatur, Ill.
