KENOSHA – The Carthage women's tennis team returned to Smeds Tennis Center on Monday afternoon to host the Wis-Whitewater Warhawks. The Warhawks took control of the match early with three straight doubles wins before sweeping the Firebirds in singles play to earn the victory.

 

In doubles play, Jordan Miller and Bella Rizzo dropped a 6-0 contest in No. 3 doubles against Molly Asfeld and Alexandra Repplier. Rya Arreazola and Greta Peterson fell 6-1 in No. 1 doubles against Gracie Ha and Abigail Weaver. The Warhawks completed the doubles sweep over the Firebirds with Cassandra Lee and Crystina Lee defeating Niki Manojlovic and Marie Weis 6-2.

In singles play, Miller dropped a 6-2, 6-0 contest in No. 4 singles against C. Lee. Peterson fell in No. 2 singles 6-1, 6-0 against Ha. The Warhawks then claimed the victory as Weis lost a 6-1, 6-2 match against Repplier in No. 6 singles. Manojlovic came up short in No. 3 singles, falling to Asfeld 6-4, 6-3. Arreazola then dropped a 7-5, 6-0 loss to Weaver in No. 1 singles, before Valentina Huesca came up short in a 6-0, 6-2 battle against Kaitlyn Remke in No. 5 singles. The Warhawks defeated the Firebirds 7-0.


 
The Firebirds (7-9) return home on Thursday, Apr. 16 as the team is set to travel to Appleton, Wis. to take on Lawrence University at 4 p.m. Carthage women's tennis returns to Smeds Tennis Center on Sunday, April 19 to host MSOE and celebrate Senior Day.
