RACINE – The Carthage women's tennis team hosted the Concordia University Wisconsin Falcons on Friday evening at the LifeSport Athletic Club. The Firebirds cruised through doubles play, sweeping the Falcons before completing the shut out with six wins in singles play.

 

In doubles play, Niki Manojlovic and Marie Weis earned a 6-1 win in No. 2 doubles against Katelyn de Guzman and Abigail Haley. In No. 1 doubles, Rya Arreazola and Greta Peterson defeated Payton Steward and Taylor Weiner with a final score of 6-2. Jordan Miller and Bella Rizzo completed the doubles sweep in No. 3 doubles by earning a 7-5 win over Ruth Dolde and Sammy Mudra. The Firebirds took a 1-0 lead over the Falcons. 

In singles play, Arreazola shut out Steward in No. 1 singles with a pair of 6-0 victories. Manojlovic then earned the victory in No. 3 singles, defeating Haley with a 6-0, 6-2 win. Peterson clinched the team victory with a win in No. 2 singles, defeating Dolde with a pair of 6-0 victories. Valentina Huesca then defeated Mudra with a 6-3, 6-1 performance in No. 6 singles. Rizzo earned a 6-2, 6-3 win over Weiner in No. 5 singles, while Miller completed the shut out with a 6-2, 6-3 win over de Guzman in No. 4 singles. The Firebirds claimed the match 7-0.


 
The Firebirds (7-8) return home on Sunday, Apr. 12 as the Firebirds host Wis-Whitewater in Racine, Wis at the LifeSport Athletic Club. Action is scheduled to begin at 12 p.m. For more information, visit athletics.carthage.edu.
