ORLANDO – The Carthage women's tennis team opened their 2026 s[ring break trip to Florida with a Monday evening match against the Cornell College Rams. It was a tough opener for the Firebirds, as 

 

In doubles play, Rya Arreazola and Greta Peterson fell 6-1 in No. 1 doubles to Michaela Clark and Macallister Graves. Niki Manojlovic and Marie Weis dropped a 6-3 contest against Annika Dox and Tansy Graves in No. 2 doubles, before Jordan Miller and Bella Rizzo fell 6-2 in No. 3 doubles to Jenna Benkufsky and Audrey Small. The Rams took a 1-0 lead over the Firebirds after claiming the doubles point.

In singles play, Arreazola fell 6-2, 6-1 in No. 1 singles against Clark as the Rams took a 2-0 lead. Peterson then came up short in No. 2 singles 6-3, 6-0 against M. Graves. Miller dropped a 6-4, 6-1 contest against Small in No. 4 singles. Manojlovic got on the board with a 4-6, 6-4, (10-6) win in No. 3 singles against T. Graves. Valentina Huesca dropped a 6-3, 3-6, (10-4) match against Dox in No. 6 singles. The match concluded with Rizzo dropping a 6-7 (5-7), 6-6 (7-2), (10-7) No. 5 singles contest against Benkufsky.


 
The Firebirds (5-6) return to action on Wednesday, Mar 11 as the squad takes on St. Catherine at 11:30 a.m. EST and St. Scholastica at 5 p.m. EST in Orlando, Fla.
