Women’s Track & Field Opens the Outdoor Season with a School Record Broken

KENOSHA – The Carthage women's track & field team returned to action for the outdoor season at the First Chance Invitational, hosted by North Central. The highlight of the meet came from the 4 x 800 meter relay team (Jessie Pakaski, Mandy Nelson, Rylie Wilson, and Kristin Farabaugh), breaking the school record. 

Who Led the Way
SPRINTS
In the 200-meter dash, Kylie Kutner clocked a time of 26.70 to secure a fifth-place finish.

DISTANCE
Pakaski placed fourth in the 800 meters with a time of 2:23.74.

In the 1,500 meters, Pakaski earned a second-place finish, crossing the line in 4:54.43.

Kylie Florance recorded a third-place finish in the 5,000 meters with a time of 18:43.40.

JUMPS
Christiana Hall claimed first place in the long jump with a mark of 5.34 meters.

In the pole vault, Reese Teevan and Alyssa McQueen placed seventh and eighth with marks of 3.22 meters and 3.07 meters, respectively.

Mara Tenbrink finished fourth in the triple jump with a mark of 10.69 meters. Lyla Unzicker and Jadynn Kramer followed in sixth and eighth, posting marks of 10.50 meters and 10.02 meters.

THROWS
Jackie Tuzil led the way in the discus, taking first place with a throw of 44.68 meters. Eiley Schoeneman and Madison Payne finished second and fourth with marks of 36.92 meters and 36.41 meters, while Lillian Townsend added a sixth-place finish at 33.63 meters.

In the hammer throw, Madison Payne earned first place with a mark of 45.73 meters. Tuzil followed in third at 43.01 meters, while Rose Wagner and Kaylee Floming placed fifth and sixth with throws of 39.79 meters and 39.60 meters.

The Firebirds dominated the shot put, sweeping the top four spots. Payne led with a winning mark of 12.57 meters, followed by Townsend (12.08 meters) and Caylene Von-Schilling Worth (12.06 meters) in second and third. Tuzil placed fourth at 11.85 meters, while Ava Freund and Schoeneman finished sixth and seventh with marks of 11.49 meters and 11.01 meters.

RELAYS
The Firebirds' 4x800-meter relay team of Pakaski, Nelson, Wilson, and Farabaugh captured first place with a time of 9:43.53.
