Tuzil Collects All-American Honors in the Discus at the NCAA Championships

LA CROSSE – Jackie Tuzil of the Carthage women's track & field team competed in the discus throw at the 2026 NCAA Division III Outdoor Track & Field Championships on Thursday afternoon in La Crosse, Wisconsin. Tuzil placed fifth overall in the event.

Who Led the Way
Competing in the second flight, Tuzil opened the competition with two scratches before recording a throw of 46.87 meters, the top mark of the day. In the finals, Tuzil posted marks of 44.89 meters and 45.25 meters, along with one scratch. The performance earned Tuzil First Team All-American honors, marking the first All-American recognition of the career.

Coach's Remarks
"Jackie decided to keep us all on our toes until the third round of competition," said Greg Raimondi. "I am so proud of her for having a clutch throw to advance to the final and earn her first All-American honors. It is difficult to stay composed with two fouls and even more difficult when it's at the national meet. She absolutely crushed that situation and proved she deserved to be on the podium at the end of the day. I am sad that this was Jackie's last meet but happy with the way it ended. She has had an amazing career and represented our program very well as an athlete and person. The group is going to look much different next year without her around, she left some big shoes to fill. I can't thank Jackie enough for everything she has contributed to our group."
