NAPERVILLE - The College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin (CCIW) announced its Women's Track and Field Student-Athletes of the Week. Madison Payne of the Carthage Women's Track and Field team was named Field Student-Athlete of the Week for the CCIW, the conference announced Wednesday.

This past weekend, the Firebirds hosted the Tadd Metzger Invite, where Payne competed in both the weight throw and the shot put. Payne swept both events, recording a throw of 15.79 meters in the weight throw and 13.80 meters in the shot put. With the 13.80-meter mark in the shot put, Payne moved up to eighth on the NCAA Division III Indoor Qualifying List. Payne also remains ranked first in the CCIW performance list in the shot put and second in the weight throw.

The Firebirds will be back in action on Friday, February 13, at the Midwest Elite Invitational hosted by UW-Whitewater. For more information, visit athletics.carthage.edu.
