KENOSHA – The Carthage women's track & field team returned to action on home turf, hosting the Tadd Metzger Invite in the Tarble Athletic and Recreation Center Fieldhouse. Action opened up Friday afternoon with the multi events, while the rest of the events occurred Saturday afternoon. The Firebirds swept the six-team field, taking multiple event wins.
The Firebirds took first place, scoring 222 points.
Carroll and Wheaton rounded out the top three spots. Carroll took second, scoring 158.5 points. While Wheaton took third, scoring 113.5 points.
SPRINTS
Anna Kegel placed second in the 55 meter dash, clocking a time of 7.55.
Maija Rantala ran a personal record in the 55 meter hurdles, finishing in third place.
In the 400 meter dash, Mandy Nelson clocked a time of 1:03.04 for a third place finish.
DISTANCE
In the 800 meter run, Kristin Farabaugh led the Firebirds, taking first place in a time of 2:25.86.
Heather Wagner and Jenna Schaalma took second and third in the 1,000 meter run, clocking in times of 3:36.86 and 3:45.31.
Both running personal records, Kylie Florance (10:56.42) and Kaitlyn Jerbi (11:15.93) took first and second place in the 3,000 meter run.
Brooke Nez led the Firebirds in first place in the 5,000 meter run with a personal record of 20:38.71. Lilliana Ryan and Jackie Zaravia took second and third with time of 21:01.32 and 21:27.15.
JUMPS
In the long jump, Christina Hall took second place with a mark of 5.54 meters.
THROWS
The Firebirds swept the top three spots in the shot put. Madison Payne led the Firebirds in first place, throwing a mark of 13.80 meters. Lillian Townsend and Jackie Tuzil followed in second and third, throwing marks of 13.08 meters and 11.56 meters.
Payne also led the Firebirds in the weight throw, placing first with a mark of 15.79 meters. Tuzil followed in second place, throwing 15.00 meters.
RELAYS
The Firebirds relay team of Nelson, Shaylen Quinn, Natalie Forward, and Rylie Wilson placed second in the 4 x 400 meter relay, clocking a time of 4:25.80.
NCAA Performance List
Madison Payne has moved up to number eight on the 2026 NCAA Division III Indoor Qualifying List in the shot put.
CCIW Performance List
Payne and Lillian Townsend are ranked first and second in the CCIW performance list in the shot put. Payne is also ranked second in the CCIW for the weight throw.
