KENOSHA – The Carthage women's track & field team traveled to Ripon, Wisconsin, on Friday evening. Finishing second overall with 116.5 points, the Firebirds showcased their depth across the track and in the field, highlighted by event victories in distance races, dominant efforts in the jumps and throws, and a first-place finish in the 4x400-meter relay. Carthage consistently challenged for the top spots throughout the day, earning multiple podium finishes.
The Firebirds placed second, scoring 116.5 points.
UW-Oshkosh took first place, scoring 148 points. Ripon rounded out the top three teams, scoring 82.5 points.
SPRINTS
Syvonna Perry took third place in the 200 meter dash, clocking 27.03.
DISTANCE
Kylie Florance led the field in the 3,000 meter run, taking first place in a time of 11:00.53 (personal record).
In the 5,000 meter run, Camryn Lau clocked a time of 19:48.95 for a second place finish.
JUMPS
Anna Kegel placed second in the long jump, marking 5.06 meters.
Three firebirds went 1,2, and 3 in the triple jump. Lyla Unziker led the Firebirds in first place with a jump of 10.35 meters. Mara TenBrink and Angelina Gersch followed in second and third with marks of 10.31 meters and 10.21 meters.
THROWS
Madison Payne and Lillian Townsend went one and two in the shot put. Payne threw a mark of 12.88 meters, and Townsend marked 12.59 meters.
In the weight throw, Jackie Tuzil placed second, throwing 14.84 meters (personal record). Right behind, Payne marked 14.77 meters for a third place finish.
RELAYS
The Firebirds relay team (Rylie Wilson, Natalie Forward, Julia Kraus, and Mandy Nelson) took first place in the 4 x 400 meter relay, in a time of 4:19.77.
NCAA Performance List
In the shot put, Payne and Townsend are ranked in the NCAA Division III Indoor Qualifying List. Payne is ranked sixth with a mark of 13.50 meters, and Townsend is ranked 16th with a mark of 12.82m.
CCIW Performance List
In the 3,000 meter run, Florence is ranked third with a time of 11:00.53.
Lau is ranked third in the 5,000 meter run with a time of 19:48.95.
In the shot put, Payne and Townsend are ranked first and second with marks of 13.50 meters and 12.82 meters.
Payne and Tuzil are ranked first and third in the weight throw, with marks of 15.58 meters and 14.84 meters.
