Pair of Victories Earns Rose CCIW Student-Athlete of the Week Honors

NAPERVILLE, Ill. - Tyler Rose of the Carthage men's track & field team was named the College Conference of Illinois & Wisconsin (CCIW) Men's Field Student-Athlete of the Week, the CCIW announced Wednesday.

Rose, a senior from Naperville, Ill., came away with a pair of victories in the shot put and weight throw on Saturday, Jan. 17 at the Firebird First hosted by Carthage College. Rose started the day with a first place finish in the shot put with a mark of 16.37m, which currently leads the CCIW and ranks 14th at the NCAA Division III level. Rose later came back and won the weight throw with a mark of 18.95m, which also leads the CCIW and ranks third in the country at the D-III level.

The Firebirds return to action on Friday, Jan. 23 at the Red Hawk Open hosted by Ripon. Action begins at 4 p.m. For more information, visit athletics.carthage.edu.
