ROCK ISLAND - The Carthage men's track & field team competed at Augustana College Wednesday and Thursday at the Midwest Twilight Qualifier. It was the final opportunity for the Firebirds to achieve marks that will qualify for the NCAA Division III Outdoor National Championships. The Firebirds closed out their season strong with multiple personal bests.  



SPRINTS

Dylan Parker clocked a time of 48.61 in the 400m dash, placing eighth. 

DISTANCE

Three Firebirds competed in the 1,500m run with Harlan Matson leading the way with a personal best time of 3:59.64. Micah Anderson finished his career with a season best time of 4:04.96. Trevor Swanson clocked a time of 4:10.10. 

Jacob Curulewski competed in the 5,000m, finishing with a time of 14:53.28. 

Derek Garmire finished his career with a season best time of 33:53.38 in the 10,000m. 

JUMPS

Nnaemeka Obinna jumped a mark of 6.31m in the long jump. 

Kedrick Johnson III recorded a mark of 13.60m in the triple jump. 

THROWS

Jacob Brost won the javelin throw with a personal best mark of 60.10m. 

Tyler Rose placed sixth in the discus throw with a mark of 47.88m. Rose also threw 14.44m in the shot put.

Lucas Leal placed second in the hammer throw with a personal best mark of 61.28m. 


 

• Leal moves into seventh place in NCAA Division III with a mark of 61.28m in the hammer throw. Leal also ranks second in the event on the Carthage all-time list, trailing Matt Ausse (2022) at 61.68m.
• Brost ranks second in the javelin on the Carthage all-time list, trailing Dan Ledman (2002) at 61.35m.
