ROCK ISLAND/JOLIET – The Carthage women's track & field team competed Friday and Saturday at the Augustana Penultimate Qualifier and the University of St. Francis Fighting Chance Invite. The squad saw multiple personal records and top performances across events. 



SPRINTS

Tara Schaalma placed fourth in the 400 meter hurdles with a time of 1:08.88.

DISTANCE

In the 800 meter run, Mandy Nelson took second place with a personal record of 2:28.40. Right behind, Kristin Farabaugh finished in third, clocking in a time of 2:30.18.

In the 5,000 meter run, Kylie Smith and Kylie Florance clocked times of 17:48.08 (personal record) and 18:46.93.

JUMPS

Christina Hall and Teagan Johnston took fifth and sixth in the long jump with marks of 5.54 meters and 5.36m.

Abbey Calhoun tied her personal record and school record (11.92 meters) in the triple jump for a first place finish. 

THROWS

In the Discus throw, Jackie Tuzil led the Firebirds with a sixth-place finish and a personal record mark of 46.87 meters. Nicole Tarpley and Lillian Townsend placed seventh and 12th with marks of 44.64 meters and 40.83m. 

Alexis Mattox led the Firebirds in the hammer throw with a second place finish and a mark of 53.57 meters. Tarpley and Hannah Lizano threw marks of 53.06 meters and 43.70m for third and eighth place.

Madison Payne led the Firebirds in the shot put with a personal record mark of 13.98 meters and a fourth place finish. Mattox finished right behind in fifth place and with a personal record mark of 13.62 meters. Mikayla Wright and Townsend finished in sixth and seventh with marks of 13.44 meters and 12.20m. 



NCAA Division III Outdoor Qualifying List

In the NCAA Division III Outdoor Qualifying List, Calhoun is now ranked 17th in the triple jump with a 11.92 meters mark. Calhoun tied the school record that Calhoun holds and set last year at the 2024 Wisconsin Private College Championships. 

With Payne's personal record mark of 13.98 meters, Payne is now ranked 17th in the shot put. Additionally, Payne has moved onto the top 10 list for the Firebirds, ranking eighth. 

Tuzil's discus mark of 46.87 meters is currently ranked eighth in division III. With a personal record mark, Tuzil moves into the top 10 list for Carthage, ranking fifth.
