Firebirds Weather the Storm to Win the Wisconsin Private College Championships at Home

KENOSHA – The Carthage women's track & field team returned to action Thursday, hosting its first outdoor meet since 2019 at the Wisconsin Private College Championships. Battling rain, fog, and multiple lightning delays, the Firebirds delivered a dominant performance, recording multiple personal bests and capturing the team title.

Team Results

Carthage claimed the championship with 304 points, while St. Norbert (137.5) and Lawrence (77) rounded out the top three.

Who Led the Way
SPRINTS
Anna Kegel led the Firebirds in the sprints, winning the 100-meter dash in 12.92, while Marisa Serpico placed third at 13.33.

Julia Kraus added a third-place finish in the 100-meter hurdles (17.45).

In the 200-meter dash, Kylie Kutner secured second place with a time of 27.02.

Shaylen Quinn recorded a personal-best time of 1:01.66 in the 400 meters, finishing second.

DISTANCE
Carthage dominated the 800 meters, as Jessie Pakaski and Kristin Farabaugh finished first and second with personal-best times of 2:23.00 and 2:25.97.

Pakaski continued her strong day in the 1,500 meters, placing second with another personal best of 4:50.01.

Brooke Nez captured the 5,000-meter title in a personal-best 19:51.37, while Kylie Florance won the 10,000 meters in 39:03.21.

JUMPS
In the high jump, Julia Kraus and Serena Coleman placed second and third with marks of 1.47 meters and 1.42 meters.

Christina Hall and Angelina Gersch went one-two in the long jump with marks of 5.16 meters and 4.93 meters.

Mara TenBrink added another victory in the triple jump with a mark of 10.65 meters.

THROWS
Jackie Tuzil led the way in the discus, winning the event with a throw of 44.44 meters.

The Firebirds swept the top three spots in the hammer throw, with Madison Payne taking first (44.58 meters), followed by Rose Wagner (42.53 meters) and Tuzil (41.56 meters). Payne also won the shot put with a mark of 12.59 meters.

In the javelin, Addison Huppert and Jadynn Kramer placed second and third with throws of 27.22 meters and 26.99 meters.

RELAYS
The 4x100-meter relay team of Kegel, Kutner, Gersch, and Serpico took first place in 51.24.

Carthage added another relay victory in the 4x400, as Kutner, Quinn, Natalie Forward, and Farabaugh finished in 4:28.14.

NCAA Performance List
Jackie Tuzil currently ranks eighth on the 2026 NCAA Division III Outdoor Qualifying List in the discus.

CCIW Performance List
On the CCIW Performance List, Christina Hall ranks first in the long jump (5.34 meters), while Madison Payne holds the top spot in both the shot put (12.59 meters) and hammer throw (45.73 meters).
