WHITEWATER – On Thursday, the Carthage women's track and field team concluded their regular season with standout performances at the UW-Whitewater Drake Alternative. The Firebirds excelled across all event groups, highlighted by two event victories: Abbey Calhoun in the triple jump and Alexis Mattox in the shot put.



SPRINTS

The 4x100 relay consisting of Anna Kegel, Sarah Kerfin, Mandy Nelson, and Caitlyn Hodgins placed third in a season best time of 49.66. 

Kerfin placed sixth in the 200m with a time of 26.24. 

Julie Heinrichs placed fifth in the 400m with a time of 1:00.40.

DISTANCE

Jessie Pakaski placed seventh in the 800m with a time of 2:24.65. 

Brooke Nez placed sixth in the 5000m with a time of 22:24.64. 

JUMPS

Calhoun won the triple jump with a jump of 11.54m. Tara Schaalma placed third with a mark of 10.50m, and Angelina Gersch placed sixth with a mark of 9.99m.

Christina Hall placed second in the long jump with a mark of 5.40m, with Calhoun close behind in third with a jump of 5.18m. Angelina Gersch placed seventh with a mark of 4.93m. 

THROWS

Mattox, Madison Payne, and Mikayla Wright went 1-3 in the shot put with marks of 13.47m, 13.21m, and 13.13m, respectively. Lillian Townsend placed eighth in the event with a mark of 12.14m. 

Three Firebirds placed in the top eight of the hammer throw, with Mattox leading the way again with a second place finish with a mark of 50.72m. Nicole Tarpley placed fourth with a mark of 47.64m, and Madison Payne placed eighth with a mark of 44.45m. 

Tarpley placed seventh in the discus throw with a mark of 39.79m. 

CJ Lange placed third in the javelin throw with a personal best mark of 35.40m. Payne placed seventh with a mark of 30.08m 



NCAA Division III Outdoor Qualifying List

Mattox is now ranked 21st in the shot put in the NCAA Division III Outdoor Qualifying List with a mark of 13.47m. 

CCIW Top Performances

The Firebirds will compete in the CCIW Outdoor Track & Field Championships next weekend. Thirteen Firebirds are currently ranked in the top five in their respective events.  

Kaitlyn Jerbi is ranked fourth in the 10,000 meter run with a time of 43:16.98.

In the high jump, Teagan Johnston is ranked fifth with a mark of 1.57 meters.

Hall is ranked third in the long jump, with a mark of 5.62 meters.

Calhoun's mark of 11.58 meters is ranked second in the triple jump.

In the shot put, three Firebirds are ranked in the top five. Mattox is ranked third with a mark of 13.47 meters. Payne and Mikayla Wright are ranked fourth and fifth with marks of 13.30m and 13.27m.

Tarpley and Jackie Tuzil are ranked third and fourth in the discus with marks of 45.61 meters and 44.43 meters.

In the hammer throw, Mattox and Tarpley are ranked second and third with marks of 53.84 meters and 53.48 meters.

Johnston and Julia Kraus are ranked third and fifth in the heptathlon, scoring 3830 and 3376 points over seven events.
