KENOSHA – The Carthage women's track & field team hosted the opening day of the College Conference of Illinois & Wisconsin (CCIW) Indoor Track & Field Championships. The Firebirds are off to a great start with strong performances across the board, highlighted by a 1-2 finish in the weight throw.



The Firebirds are sit in third place with 34 points. North Central leads the field with 50 points, just one point ahead of Elmhurst, who sits in second place with 49 points. Wheaton sits in fourth place with 32 points, while Illinois Wesleyan rounds out the top five with 26 points.
 


Throws
Nicole Tarpley won the weight throw with a mark of 17.78 meters*. Madison Payne finished right behind her in second with a mark of 15.74 meters*. Jackie Tuzil placed eighth with a mark of 14.30 meters*. The trio of Tarpley, Payne and Tuzil combined for 19 points.

Jumps
Christina Hall placed fourth in the long jump with a personal best mark of 5.61 meters*. Anna Kegel finished right behind in fifth with a mark of 5.52 meters*. The duo combined for nine points for the Firebirds. 

Multi
Teagan Johnston placed sixth in the pentathlon with a personal best of 2,765 points*.

Relays 
The Distance Medley Relay, consisting of Kylie Florance, Mandy Nelson, Kristin Farabaugh, and Kylie Smith placed sixth with a time of 13:20.32.
