WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. — Competing in the weight throw on day one of the NCAA Division III Indoor National Championship meet, Matthew Ausse took 20th and Joseph White 13th on Friday at the JDL Fast Track Indoor Facility.

"We didn't see the best performances from the guys today, but it was good for them to compete at nationals," said assistant coach Greg Raimondi. "We look forward to seeing Joseph improve tomorrow in the shot put, and hope both he and Matt can build off their momentum in the outdoor season."

In flight one, Ausse finished with a mark of 16.12 meters on his third attempt to place 20th. In the second flight, White would post his best mark of the day on his second attempt, clearing 17.67 meters to take 13th place.

"Fortunately, Joseph has an opportunity to come back in the shot tomorrow," said head coach Josh Henry. "We need to put today behind us quickly in order to find the mentality that has worked so well this season to close indoor on a positive note."

White will close out the 2022 indoor season for the Firebirds tomorrow, when he competes in the shot put at the national championship meet, beginning at 1 p.m. CT.
