KENOSHA, Wis. — The Carthage track and field teams hosted Carroll and North Park for their final regular season meet of the indoor season, the Firebird Finale, with the men taking first place and the women second on Saturday in the Tarble Athletic and Recreation Center.

"We definitely concluded our indoor regular season on a high note," said men's head coach Josh Henry. "This was by far our best team performance, which was highlighted by a really strong day for our short sprinters."

The men's team began in the morning, picking up a trio of second-place finishes in the jumps with Connor Bell in the high jump, Lucas Lieb in the long jump, and Edelmar Morales-Rivera in the triple jump. Aidan O'Neill took first place in the pole vault on a mark of 3.10 meters.

In the men's throws, Alex Pitrone took second in the shot put with a personal-best mark of 14.19 meters, while Matthew Ausse placed fourth in the weight throw at 17.01 meters. In the 55-meter dash finals, David Rogers placed second with a PR of 6.66 seconds, before Cameron Fischer won the mile in 4:34.37. The Firebirds picked up another first-place finish in the 55-meter hurdles, as Alassane Guisse won with a time of 8.35 seconds.

The Carthage men's team picked up two more wins, as Rogers took first in the 200-meter dash and Micah Anderson won the 5K with a time of 15:47.87. The 4x400-meter relay team closed out the meet with a second-place finish on a time of 3:44.99.

In the afternoon, the women began with a win by Aubrey Tesch in the high jump after clearing 1.57 meters. Ilana Milos in the long jump, Ashley Hannam in the triple jump, and Julia Cozzi in the pole vault, all placed second in their events to score for the Firebirds.

In the shot put, Alyssa Gulsvig set a PR with a mark of 10.98 meters to take first place, while Alexis Mattox placed third in the weight throw with a toss of 15.25 meters.

Cailey Ciezadlo and Sarah Kerfin would take second and third place, respectively, in the finals of the 55-meter dash, before Lily Majestic set a PR in the mile at 5:34.55 to take second. Bella Serrano gave Carthage another first-place finish in the 800-meter run, before Ciezadlo and Feliscyanna Frazier went one-and-two, respectively, in the 200.

In the 3,000-meter run, the Firebirds would sweep the podium as Laura Sanders took first on a time of 11:42.31, with Amy Mayhill taking second and Aubrey Broz third. Carthage ended their day by winning the 4x400-meter relay with a time of 4:29.00.

The men's team totaled 137 team points to finish ahead of Carroll with 125 and North Park with 11. The women would place second after accumulating 111 points, behind Carroll with 125 and ahead of North Park's 26.

"It was nice to send our seniors competing in their last home meet out with a team win," said Henry. "Perhaps even better was the opportunity to do so in front of their families. Our seniors have shown incredible resilience over the last year and we know that is in large part due to the support they've received from home. We are looking forward to one final go at the indoor season next week for some of our top guys who'll qualify for next week's CCIW Indoor Track & Field Elite Meet."

Each team will finish their indoor season at the CCIW Elite Invitational next Saturday, March 13, at the Shirk Center Fieldhouse.
