KENOSHA, WIS.—The Carthage College men's lacrosse team (0-0, 0-0 CCIW) will open the 2017 season with a pair of neutral-site affairs at the Canlan Sportsplex in Lake, Barrington, Ill. on February 10. The Red Men will take on Northland College at 8:30 a.m., followed by a contest against Hope College at 11:00 a.m.
ABOUT NORTHLAND COLLEGE (0-0)
Friday's matchup with Carthage marks Northland's first game in program history. The Lumberjacks will compete as an independent in their inaugural season.
Northland's roster consists of 19 players from Wisconsin, Minnesota, Ohio, Virginia, California, Idaho, Nevada, Texas and Canada.
The Lumberjacks are coached by Carthage alum Jack Meachum (2013-14). Meachum, who holds multiple Red Men statistical records, previously served as Carthage's graduate assistant coach.
ABOUT HOPE COLLEGE (0-0, 0-0 MIAA)
Hope will open their 2017 season against the Red Men. The Flying Dutchman are coming off a 2016 season that saw them tally a 9-7, 3-4 MIAA record.
Returning for Hope is senior Gunnar Elder, who ended the 2016 season with 64 goals and 35 assists for 99 points. Elder ranked second among NCAA Division III men's lacrosse players in points per game (6.19) and goals per game (4.00). As a team, the Flying Dutchman's .468 man-up offense percentage ranked eighth in the country.
The 2017 season will mark Michael Schanhals' (29-29) fourth as Hope College head men's lacrosse coach.
