Red Men Will Face Illinois Wesleyan In CCIW Championship On Saturday

 
KENOSHA, WIS.-The Carthage College men's lacrosse team will host Illinois Wesleyan University in the 2016 College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin Championship Game on Saturday, May 7 at 2:00 p.m. The Red Men defeated Elmhurst College 11-10 in the CCIW Semifinal contest on May 4, which locked them a spot in Saturday's Championship bout with Illinois Wesleyan. The Titans cruised past Augustana College 21-13 in their CCIW Semifinal matchup on May 4.
 
Carthage defeated Illinois Wesleyan 14-10 in their lone matchup of the season in Bloomington, Ill. on April 23.
 
The CCIW doesn't have an automatic qualifier into the 2016 NCAA Men's Lacrosse Tournament. The Red Men will await their fate in Sunday night's selection show.
 
ABOUT ILLINOIS WESLEYAN UNIVERSITY (13-4, 4-1 CCIW)
 
Michael Julius leads the Titans with 53 goals and 24 assists for 77 points. Julius ranks 13th in the country with 3.31 goals per game, and 21st with 4.81 points per game.  James Maibuecher isn't far behind with 38 goals and 32 assists for 70 points.
 
Colton Jackson paces the Titan defense with 18 caused turnovers while Max Porter leads the way with 106 ground balls.  Steven Laduzinsky has started every game in goal for the Titans and carries an 11.21 goals against average, and a .529 save percentage.
 
The Titans rank first in the CCIW with 9.94 assists per game, an .881 face-off winning percentage, 42.06 ground balls per game, .386 man-up offense, 26.31 points per game, 204 saves, 5.38 scoring margin and a 16.38 scoring offense.
 
Zach Iannucci is in his fourth season as Illinois Wesleyan University head men's lacrosse coach.
 
CARTHAGE COLLEGE (9-9, 5-0 CCIW)
 
The Red Men are looking to reverse their fortunes after falling to Augustana College 10-9 in the 2015 CCIW Men's Lacrosse Championship Game. Their 16-5 record last season was good enough to earn them an at-large bid into the 2015 NCAA Men's Lacrosse Tournament. Carthage eventually fell to No. 3 Ohio Wesleyan University 14-6 on May 6, 2015.
 
Carthage leads the CCIW with an 8.29 scoring defense mark. Red Men goalkeeper Ryan Smith leads the CCIW with an 8.09 goals against average, and a .545 save percentage. Jordyn Williams is the Red Men career-leader with 142 caused turnovers.
 
Dylan Harris leads the Red Men with 28 goals and 21 assists for 49 points this season. Jared Ferrell trails Harris with 30 goals and 12 assists for 42 points. Justin Proctor paces the Red Men with 78 ground balls and 134 won face-offs.
