Red Men to Face Spartans and Rams


KENOSHA, WIS.—The Carthage College men's lacrosse team (1-2, 0-0 CCIW) will embark on five straight road games following their loss to Benedictine University on March 5. The Red Men will pay a visit to the University of Dubuque on Saturday, March 12 at 2:00 p.m., and Cornell College on Sunday, March 13 at 1:00 p.m.
 
Carthage College's matchup against the University of Dubuque is their first CCIW bout of the 2016 season.
 
ABOUT UNIVERSITY OF DUBUQUE (0-2, 0-0 CCIW):

Fell to NAIA member Clarke University 9-8 on March 2 before dropping an 18-0 decision to Beloit College on March 5. Michael Julius paces the Spartan scoring attack with two goals and two assists for four points. Josh Wingate-Berey has won 14-of-36 faceoffs for a .389 percentage on the season. Kyle Mullins started both Spartan games in net and carries a 13.50 goals against average and .640 saves percentage. Kasey Burst is embarking on his first season as Spartan head men's lacrosse coach following an 18-month stint at Clarke University. Prior to Clarke, Burst was an assistant coach for a Clarkson University program that garnered a 26-19 record throughout his tenure there. 

ABOUT CORNELL COLLEGE (0-2, 0-0 MLC)

The Rams opened the 2016 season with a 12-9 loss to DePauw University on March 5, and a 19-4 defeat to Rockhurst University on March 7. The 2016 season is Andrew Bonasera's second as Cornell College men's lacrosse coach. Bonasera arrived to Cornell following five seasons at Birmingham Southern, where he notched a 43-39 overall record. Cornell College was picked to finish seventh on the 2016 Midwest Lacrosse Conference Preseason Coaches' Poll.
 
The 2016 season is the first time the Red Men found themselves with a sub .500 record through three games. Dylan Harris paces the Red Men scoring attack with four goals and five assists for nine points.
 
Justin Proctor (13-of-22) and Matt Curran (18-of-32) have split the faceoff duties thus far into the season for the Red Men.
 
Carthage College is looking to avoid their first losing skid since they dropped two in a row to close out the 2015 season. This includes a 14-6 loss to #3 Ohio Wesleyan in the NCAA Regionals First Round on May 6, 2015.
