Box Score HANOVER, IND.—A six-hour bus ride from Birmingham, Ala. to Hanover, Ind. was in store for the Carthage men's lacrosse team yesterday. Tuesday's 5-4 loss at Birmingham-Southern College left a sour taste for the Red Men prior to that bus ride.

The Red Men were faced with another six-hour bus ride following Wednesday afternoon's contest at Hanover College. This six-hour bus ride followed a better result on the field as the Red Men took care of Hanover College 15-7.

Carthage improves to 5-3, 1-0 CCIW while Hanover College falls to 4-5, 2-0 ORLC

Andy Szun scored the first of his six goals with 11:36 left in the first quarter to give the Red Men a 1-0 lead, but that didn't stop Hanover from providing an early-game scare. That scare occurred when Hanover responded with three goals that stretched their lead to 3-1 at the 12:16 mark of the second quarter.

Soon after the Panthers won that ensuing faceoff, the Red Men called a timeout to regroup. The breather worked wonders as Szun notched his second goal of the game with 9:53 remaining in the second quarter to narrow the margin to 3-2.

Connor Nelson built that momentum with a caused turnover, which provoked
Andy Meyers' ground ball pickup and clear attempt to set up an offense. This led to a
Dylan Harris goal at the 8:34 mark of the second quarter to knot the game 3-3.

The Panthers eventually took a 5-4 lead into halftime before things escalated in favor of the Red Men. Carthage's 10-straight goals to open the second half helped them surge to a 14-5 lead at the 11:39 mark of the fourth quarter. Four of the ten goals came from Szun.

The Panthers couldn't generate an answer until 9:28 left in the game when Brock Warner notched a goal to narrow the margin to 14-6. Each team traded goals to close the game to make the final score 15-7.

The Red Men outshot the Panthers 28-8 in the second half.
Ryan Smith took the win in goal for Carthage and stopped nine shots.

The Red Men will return to Art Keller Field on Saturday, March 26 against Aurora University. Game time is slated for 7:00 p.m.
