Box Score The Carthage College baseball team (18-18, 7-11 College Conference of Illinois & Wisconsin) closed out a home-and-home series with non-conference opponent Concordia University (Wis., 18-16) on Wednesday night, April 30 with a 6-4 win at Kapco Field in Mequon, Wis. The two teams played the previous night, April 29, at Augie Schmidt Field in Kenosha, Wis., with the Red Men winning an 11-1 contest.
In Wednesday's game, Concordia took a 3-0 lead in the first inning, two of the runs coming on a double by Bryan Thomas. Thomas hit an RBI-single in the fourth to up the Falcons' lead to 4-0. The Red Men scored twice in the fifth inning on two hits and a costly throwing error by third baseman Brandon Seifert. Carthage pulled ahead, 5-4, in the sixth on an RBI-double by
Jake Erfourth and a two-run double by
Graham Wick. A leadoff home run by Erfourth in the eighth upped the Red Men's lead to 6-4.
Tim Sulik (Fr., Milwaukee, Wis./Pius XI, 3-2) was the winning pitcher for Carthage despite giving up four runs on seven hits and four walks over five and one-third innings. Colin Dresen (Fr., Racine, Wis./St. Catherines) took over in the sixth before giving way to closer
Sam Wilhelms (Sr., Fond du Lac, Wis.) in the eighth Wilhelms entered the game with two outs and runners at second and third but got Brandon Seifert on a bouncer to third to end the threat. He worked a perfect ninth inning to earn his eighth save of the year. Wilhelms is now tied with Eric Wnuck as the Red Men's career leader with 12 saves. Joel Sharon (0-4) took the loss.

Jake Erfourth (Fr., St. Francis, Wis./Mequon-Homestead) went three-for-four with a double, a triple, a home run and two RBI.
Brian Huntsinger (Sr., Glendale, Wis./Milwaukee-Nicolet) went three-for-four with an RBI.
On Friday, May 2, Carthage opens a three-game series with CCIW-opponent North Central College (23-11, 11-7 CCIW) in a 3 p.m. game at Augie Schmidt Field. The two teams conclude the series with a Saturday, May 3 twinbill at Zimmerman Stadium/Alumni Field, beginning at Noon. The May 3 doubleheader will conclude Carthage's season.
