Carthage took a 3-0 lead in the first inning of the opener on a two-run double by Drew Bailey and an RBI-single by Nick Schmdlkofer.  An RBI-fielder's choice off the bat of Graham Wick in the fourth made it 4-0, and that was all the scoring.  Starting pitcher Josh Daniels (Sr., Elk Grove, Ill., 3-2) twirled a gem, shutting out the Vikings on three hits, two walks and six strikeouts over nine innings.  Seth Davis (3-2) took the loss and allowed four runs on nine hits, one walks and 11 strikeouts.  Drew Bailey (Jr., Naperville, Ill./Neuqua Valley) led the Red Men with two hits in four trips to the plate and two RBI.
