Red Men Travel to Illinois Wesleyan on Friday-Saturday

Box Score The Carthage College baseball team (15-15, 8-7 College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin) lost to non-conference opponent Concordia University (Chicago, 23-5), 17-1, on Wednesday, April 24 at the Concordia Baseball Field in River Forest, Ill.
 
Carthage took a 1-0 lead in the second inning on an RBI-single by Matt Cmiel.  That run only succeeded in getting the Cougar bats going, as they sent 14 batters to plate in the bottom half and scored 10 times, six of those unearned, off starting pitcher Raymond Wojciechowski (Fr., Spring Grove, Ill./Richmond-Burton, 0-3).  Dan Lo Dolce had the big hit in the innings, a three-run homer.  Wojciechowski allowed 10 runs on seven hits and two walks over two innings.  Sam Burnett (Fr., Hinsdale, Ill./Central) took over in the third and Eddie Gengo Jr. (Fr., Western Springs, Ill./La Grange-Nazareth Academy) in the sixth.  Louis Foss (2-1) was the winning pitcher for Concordia.
 
Shawn Miller, Derek Binninger and Robert Weiss each had three hits for the Cougars as part of their 13-hit onslaught.  Kyle Pusateri (Sr., Schaumburg, Ill.) went two-for-three for the Red Men.
 
Carthage journeys to Bloomington, Ill., this weekend for a three-game series with CCIW-opponent and No. 24 Illinois Wesleyan University (23-7, 13-2 CCIW) at Jack Horenberger Field.  The Red Men and the Titans play a Friday, April 26 single game at 7 p.m., followed by a Saturday, April 27 doubleheader at Noon.  The Illinois Wesleyan series was originally schedule for Saturday-Sunday.
