The Carthage College men's tennis team (17-7, 2-1 College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin) won both ends of a Saturday double-dual match at Augustana College (Ill.) in Rock Island, Ill. Carthage nipped CCIW-opponent Augustana (Ill., 14-7, 2-1 CCIW), 5-4, before defeating non-conference opponent the University of Dubuque (13-6) by a 7-2 margin.

Jeff Lotz Jr. (Jr., Racine, Wis., 23-10), ranked 15th in the Central Region by the Intercollegiate Tennis Association, defeated Augustana's Adam DeSimone, 6-0, 6-1, at No. 1 singles.
Daneric Hazelman (Sr., Lautoka, Fiji Islands, 26-6) defeated the Vikings' Lawrence Palmer, 4-6, 6-4, 6-1, at No. 2 singles.
Matt Whiteside (Sr., Sacramento, Calif./Natomas Pacific Pathways Prep, 21-5) was a winner at No. 3 singles. With wins over both Augustana and Dubuque, Whiteside collected his 86th career singles victory and broke a Carthage record of 84 set by Tres Heimann between 2003 and 2006.
Alex McLean (Sr., Belleville, Ill./West,10-20) lost his No. 4 singles contest to Augustana, as did
Nick Boomgarden (Sr., Fitchburg, Wis./Verona Area, 15-18) at No. 5 singles and
Brian Howes (Jr., Bartlett, Ill., 11-17) at No. 6 singles.
The Red Men's No. 1 doubles team of Lotz and Hazelman (30-2), ranked fourth in the region won over both Augustana and Dubuque and tied a Carthage season record of 30 wins set by Nate Deist and Mike Meske in 2002. Carthage's No. 2 doubles team of Whiteside and Boomgarden (19-8) was a winner over the Vikings, but the Red Men's No. 3 team of McLean and
Conor Moon (Fr., Sussex, Wis./Woodstock, Ill.-Marian Central Catholic, 9-17) lost to Augustana. Carthage plays host to CCIW-opponent Illinois Wesleyan University (5-8, 0-3 CCIW) on Thursday, April 26 in a 4 p.m. match at the Smeds Tennis Center in Kenosha, Wis.
