Parker Qualifies for 400 Meter Finals at the NCAA Championships

LA CROSSE - Tyler Rose, Jack Tilton, and Dylan Parker of the Carthage men's track and field team competed at the 2026 NCAA Division III Outdoor Track & Field Championships in La Crosse, Wisconsin, on Friday. Rose continued his national appearance in the shot put, Tilton competed in the high jump, and Parker ran in the 400 meter prelims.

Who Led the Way
Opening at 1.98 meters in the high jump, Tilton cleared the bar on the third attempt to advance to 2.03 meters. Tilton was unable to clear 2.03 meters in three attempts, finishing 20th overall.

Competing in the first flight of the men's shot put, Rose opened the competition with a scratch before bouncing back with a throw of 15.37 meters on the second attempt. A scratch on the third attempt prevented advancement to the finals, resulting in a 22nd place finish.

In heat two, lane eight, Parker qualified for the 400 meter finals clocking a time of 47.35. Parker will compete tomorrow at 2:20 p.m.

Coach's Remarks
"Im really proud of the year Jack had," said head coach Josh Henry. "To make the national meet as a freshman is an incredible accomplishment. Beyond that feat, he's had a great impact on the team with the work ethic and attitude that he brings to practice each day. While I know he's a little disappointed with the result today, that level of expectation from a freshman is what will make him great. The future is bright for Jack and the Carthage jumps crew."

"This weekend is a perfect example of experiencing the highs and lows that come with competing at a high level," said Greg Raimondi. "The shot competition was definitely one of the deepest, if not the deepest, that has happened at an NCAA meet. I thought Tyler brought the right mindset into the meet but he never found a throw that would have put him in the mix. A bad day at a national meet is still better than ending the season a week prior. I am bummed that this is the way his last competition ended because I think he was ready for much more in this event. I can't believe Tyler is graduating this weekend. It's so amazing to think that the guy who started throwing as a senior in high school would have the level of impact Tyler has on our program. He is a prime example of what consistent hard work, perseverance, and determination can lead to. He owns a spot in every throwing event top 10 at Carthage and a school record that will stand for a long time. I can't thank Tyler enough for trusting in me and helping move our men's program to a higher standard."

"It's always a good feeling to make the finals at a national meet because it's not something that's guaranteed, nor is it easy," said Cale Brown. "Dylan's strength all year has been his consistency, and that consistency got him into the final today. We're excited to see how the final goes tomorrow."
