Rose and Curulewski Collect All-American Honors at Day One of the NCAA Championships

LA CROSSE - Tyler Rose and Jacob Curulewski of the Carthage men's track and field team competed at the 2026 NCAA Division III Outdoor Track & Field Championships in La Crosse, Wisconsin, on Thursday afternoon and evening. Rose opened the championship weekend, competing in the discus throw, while Curulewski ran the 10,000 meters.

Who Led the Way
Competing in the second flight of the men's discus, Rose opened the competition with a throw of 54.66 meters, the furthest mark of the day. Rose added a mark of 50.59 meters on the third attempt after recording a scratch on the second throw. Advancing to the finals in second place, Rose recorded scratches on all three final attempts and finished second overall with a top mark of 54.66 meters. The performance earned Rose First Team All-American honors, marking the fourth All-American recognition of Rose's career.

Curulewski competed in the 10,000 meters, maintaining a consistent pace throughout the 25-lap race en route to a time of 30:13.64 and a 16th-place finish. The performance earned Curulewski Second Team All-American honors, marking the second All-American recognition of Curulewski careers.

Coach's Remarks
"What an amazing way to start the weekend for Tyler, I couldn't be happier with how he competed today," said head coach Greg Raimondi. "Coming in ranked #1 comes with a different level of pressure and he handled it really well. I know he isn't completely happy with a national runner up finish but once he takes a look back on what he accomplished this season in the discus he definitely will. He owns the school record, the 6th best throw in NCAA D3 history, and today was the second best meet of his career. I am super proud of the growth he has had as a competitor this year and glad he can end his discus career as a Firebird with his first All-American honors. I am excited to see what he can do tomorrow in the shot put after a strong day 1."

"As always it was an incredible effort from Jacob tonight," said head coach Josh Henry. "Ultimately the end result wasn't what he was hoping for, but he always represents Carthage with so much heart. Coaching him has been an absolute privilege and the standard he sets for himself is special. I'm looking forward to one last ride on Saturday in the 5k for him to close off his incredible time at Carthage in style on his terms."
