Florance Secures 10,000m Win, Firebirds Lead After Day One of the CCIW Championships

KENOSHA – The Carthage College women's track & field team returned to action on day one of the 2026 CCIW Outdoor Track & Field Championships at Art Keller Stadium, marking the first time since 2019 that the Firebirds have hosted the conference championship meet. Carthage recorded three podium finishes on the opening day of competition. Christina Hall and Jackie Tuzil each earned third-place finishes in the long jump and hammer throw, respectively. Kylie Florance highlighted the day for the Firebirds, capturing the conference title in the 10,000 meters after edging Elmhurst's Molly Roberts on the final lap.

Who Led the Way

SPRINTS

Angelina Gersch qualified for Saturday's finals in the 400-meter hurdles after placing eighth in the prelims with a personal-best time of 1:09.30.

DISTANCE

Kristin Farabaugh secured a spot in Saturday's 800-meter finals, placing seventh in the prelims with a personal-best time of 2:22.98.
Kylie Florance captured the conference title in the 10,000 meters, clocking a personal-best time of 37:43.91 to earn gold.

JUMPS

The Firebirds had three athletes score points in the long jump. Christina Hall led the group with a third-place podium finish after recording a mark of 5.56 meters. Anna Kegel placed sixth with a jump of 5.32 meters, while Angelina Gersch finished seventh with an identical mark of 5.32 meters.
In the pole vault, Reese Teevan placed sixth with a personal-best clearance of 3.36 meters.

THROWS

Carthage had four athletes score in the hammer throw, led by Jackie Tuzil's third-place finish with a mark of 43.68 meters. Rose Wagner followed closely behind in fourth place at 43.67 meters. Kaylee Floming added a sixth-place finish with a throw of 41.10 meters, while Caylene Von-Schilling Worth placed eighth with a personal-best mark of 38.71 meters.
