Five Individual Victories Propel Men's Track & Field to Second Place Finish at Don Church Twilight

WHEATON - The Carthage men's track & field team continued their 2026 outdoor season at the Wheaton College Don Church Twilight on Saturday. It was another strong day for the Firebirds, who placed second overall on the back of five individual wins and a school record.

SPRINTS

Dylan Parker placed second in the 200m with a time of 21.57 seconds. Landon Voye finished in third place with a time of 21.64 seconds. The duo scored 14 points.

The 4x100m relay team - which featured Christopher Seals, Voye, Jy'Lique Barnes, and Parker - placed second with a combined time of 42.26 seconds.

The 4x400m relay team - Kade Jaros, Michael Herres, Joey Hagen, and Harlon Matson - placed fifth in 3:33.81.

Voye placed sixth in the 100m, breaking the Carthage school record with a time of 10.63 seconds. Voye scored three points in the event.

Kedrick Johnson III placed seventh in the 110m hurdles with a time of 16.05 seconds.


DISTANCE

The Firebirds had four athletes score in the 3,000m steeplechase, with Luke Davey leading the way with a first-place finish in 9:42.42. Andrew Schaer placed second in 9:49.39. LJ Higgs finished fourth in 9:59.59, while Quinn Kelly placed sixth in 10:21.63. The Firebirds earn 26 points in the steeplechase.

Connor Wood won the 3,000m with a time of 9:20.2. Chad Helmke placed sixth at 9:38.25. The Firebirds registered 13 points in the event.

Joe Johnston placed fourth in the 5,000m with a finishing time of 15:59.29. Tom Johnston finished fifth in the event with a time of 15:59.38. Braydon Barth placed sixth in 16:16.46, while Joey Kehoe finished seventh in 16:38.66. The Firebirds scored 14 points in the event.

Matson placed sixth in the 1,500m with a time of 4:00.26, while Jacob Curulewski placed eighth in 4:01.61. The duo scored four team points.

Herres finished in eighth place in the 800m with a time of 1:59.11 to score a point for the Firebirds.

JUMPS

Camron Foster won the triple jump with a mark of 13.87m. Johnson III placed fourth at 13.53m, while Anthony Rice finished eighth at 12.15m.

Nnaemeka Obinna placed second in the long jump with a mark of 6.18m. Ace Thomas finished seventh in the event at 6.04m.

Jack Tilton placed third in the high jump with a mark of 1.93m. Foster placed fifth at 1.88m, while Euphrates Willis placed sixth at 1.88m and Austin Alexander placed seventh at 1.83m.

Hagen placed seventh in the pole vault after clearing 3.95m.

THROWS

Tyler Rose won the discus throw with a mark of 50.60m. Caleb Haas-Rock finished seventh at 39.17m.

Rose also won the hammer throw with a mark of 53.23m. Haas-Rock finished sixth at 42.79m.

Rose placed second in the shot put with a mark of 15.36m. Al Crema finished seventh at 13.67m.



 
  • Voye ranks fourth in the CCIW in the 100m at 10.63 seconds.
  • Parker ranks third in the CCIW in the 200m with a time of 21.57 seconds. Voye ranks fourth at 21.64.
  • Matson ranks third in the CCIW in the 1,500m at 4:00.26, while Curulewski ranks fifth at 4:01.61.
  • Davey now ranks fourth in the 3,000m steeplechase at 9:42.42 and Higgs ranks ninth at 9:59.59.
  • Willis now ranks sixth in the CCIW in the high jump at 1.88m, while Alexander ranks 10th at 1.83m.
  • Johnson III ranks fifth in the CCIW in the triple jump at 13.53m.

"I felt that we competed well despite it being a cool and windy meet," said Head Coach Josh Henry. "We continued to take steps across the board and I'm excited to see what we can do as a team when we host conference in 2 weeks."
