KENOSHA – The Carthage men's tennis team hosted the Millikin University Big Blue at Smeds Tennis Center on Friday afternoon. It was another strong day for the Firebirds, as the team defeated the Big Blue to earn their fourth consecutive win.

 

In doubles play, Finn Morris and Diego Silva earned a 7-0 shutout win over Nahum Gillian and Jorge Aura Juan in No. 1 doubles. In No. 3 doubles, Francisco Silveira and Ethan Foucheaux earned a 6-3 win over Eduardo Vargas and Nils Fischer. Luca Okino and Victor Pimenta completed the doubles sweep with a 7-6 (8-6) win over Matthew Kordesh and Harry Masterman in No. 2 doubles. The Firebirds took a 1-0 lead over the Big Blue.

In singles play, Okino continued the scoring with a 6-0, 6-2 win over Fischer in No. 6 singles. Cyriac Cayuela then defeated Aura Juan in No. 4 singles with a pair of 6-1 victories to give Carthage a 3-0 lead. Linus Bangert secured the team win with a 6-4, 6-0 victory over Masterman in No. 5 singles. Morris earned a 6-3, 6-0 win in No. 3 singles against Vargas. Silveira then defeated Nahum in No. 1 singles with a 6-2, 6-0 performance. Silva concluded the match with a 3-6, 7-6 (10-8), (10-4) win in No. 2 singles over Kordesh.


 
The Firebirds (16-3, 2-1 CCIW) return home on Saturday, April 11 to host Illinois Wesleyan at Smeds Tennis Center. Action begins at 11 a.m. For more information, visit athletics.carthage.edu.
