Tyler and Jacob each won two individual titles and were named CCIW Athlete of the Meet. What takeaways did you have from their performances this weekend?

"I was really proud of both of these guys," said Head Coach Josh Henry. "To be some of the most dominant athletes at this year's conference championship is a testament to the work they've put in during their four years at Carthage. Their development has truly been exceptional and I am proud to see them excel in their senior seasons. Hopefully there will be a lot more to come from both of them this year."

Landon improved upon his school records in both the 60m and 200m, earning All-CCIW honors in both events. How has his debut season with the Firebirds set him up for the rest of his career at Carthage?

"Landon has been an incredible addition to the team. Not only has he smashed the two school records in his debut season, he has also proven to be a fierce competitor. Truly one of the most fun people on the team to watch do their thing. The future is really bright for Landon and I am excited to see what he can do the rest of this season and beyond."

The Firebirds placed second at the CCIW Championships for the second time in the last three season. What went right for the group this weekend and how will you use this performance to carry the momentum through the end of the indoor season and into the outdoor season?

"Truthfully almost everything went right, which is what made this weekend feel so special. I was really proud of the team as a whole to see them compete with passion, unfazed by the moment. I think a lot of this credit goes to the upperclassmen on the team, who've been great leaders of the program. Additionally, our freshman class is special. So many guys just seem to have that 'it factor' where they just seem to get better when the pressure is on. Lastly, our coaching staff does a great job preparing the team. I couldn't do this without the incredible help from our entire coaching crew. Everyone plays a role that has been crucial to the support and development of every athlete."

The Firebirds return to the Tarble Athletic & Recreation Center on Friday, March 6 as the squad celebrates Senior Day and hosts the Firebird Finale. For more information, visit athletics.carthage.edu.
