APPLETON -  The Carthage men's swim and dive team delivered a dominant showing against Lawrence Friday evening. Using a strong start and sustained excellence throughout the lineup to collect numerous first-place finishes and secure a convincing win.

Carthage opened the meet with a victory in the 200-yard medley relay, as AJ Landorf, Tyson Politsch, William Murray, and Ian Glossa combined for a winning time of 1:40.55.

Trey Halas followed with a first-place finish in the 1,000-yard freestyle (11:15.84), while Landorf added another win in the 200-yard freestyle, touching first in 1:52.00. Adam Hollis led the sprint events with a victory in the 50-yard freestyle (22.87), and Glossa claimed the top spot in the 200-yard IM with a time of 2:09.61.

Andrew Laborevitch powered his way to first place in the 100-yard butterfly (56.28), and Murray captured the win in the 100-yard freestyle, finishing in 50.08. Halas continued his strong meet with a victory in the 100-yard backstroke (56.99), while Landorf closed out his individual slate by winning the 500-yard freestyle in 5:08.52. Politsch added another first-place finish in the 100-yard breaststroke (1:00.15), and the Firebirds capped the meet with a win in the 200-yard freestyle relay, clocking a time of 1:30.77.

In diving action, Devon Kuhn secured first place on the 1-meter board with a score of 328.05, rounding out an impressive all-around team performance for Carthage.


The Firebirds are back in action on Friday, January 30, for day one action of the Wisconsin Private College Championships. Action is scheduled to begin at 6 p.m. For more information, visit our athletics.carthage.edu.
